I have practiced Vedic astrology for twenty-three years. People rarely bring a chart to me out of idle curiosity. They come with a real decision in front of them, a marriage, a move, a career turn, a year that has not gone the way they hoped, and a good reading respects the weight of that. Marriage and compatibility, the subject of this site, is one part of the work I do, not the whole of it.
My foundation is classical Parashari astrology. It is the framework I return to for any serious reading. Across two decades of chart work I have learned to bring in tools from across the Vedic streams when a particular question calls for them, rather than forcing every chart through one lens. A question of timing, of temperament, of the real strength behind an outcome, each often comes into focus through a different part of the tradition.
Training
I learned the craft under Pt. Banshidhar Shastri, in the older guru and shishya manner, close study over years rather than a short course. That grounding still shapes how I read. The mechanism comes first, the reasoning before the verdict. A chart is a map, never a sentence passed on someone’s life, and I was taught to treat it that way.
How the chart pointed here
My path into jyotish was, fittingly, written into my own chart. Jupiter sits in my eighth house from the lagna, the house of hidden and inquiring knowledge, the classical pull toward the deeper sciences. The Moon is flanked on both sides, Jupiter in the twelfth from it and a cluster of planets in the second, which forms Durudhara Yoga. The lords of my ninth and tenth houses sit in each other’s place too, an exchange, a Parivartana, that the older texts read as purpose and work feeding one another. I came to astrology more or less the way the chart suggested I would.
I have put my own chart on this page on purpose. If you are going to hand me yours, it seems only right that you can see mine, and form your own sense of the person who will be reading it. What I have pointed out here is only a start. A trained eye will find more in it, and so, with a little study, will a beginner. I will leave the rest of it for you to read.
Background
For much of my life I worked in technology while I consulted. I spent years abroad in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada, the longest stretch in the UK. My professional background is in systems administration, mostly Linux server work. I mention it because it is not incidental to how I practice. A systems mind looks for the mechanism, the actual chain of cause behind a result, and that is exactly how I approach a chart. It is the analytical habit behind everything I write on this site.
I have consulted clients across India and during those years abroad, reading for people in very different circumstances and cultures. I lived in Delhi until six years ago, when I moved to a small village on the outskirts of Shimla, where I now practice. Alongside this site I founded Astrologyforums.com and write as an author at Jagannathhora.com.
Languages
I consult fluently in English, Hindi and Punjabi.
Every article published here is reviewed and approved by me before it goes live. The aim is simple. What you read should reflect genuine practice and honest interpretation, not a polished summary of what already exists.
